Accommodation around Koh Pha-Ngan
Beach bungalow operations are still mostly concentrated north and south-east of Thong Sala and especially on the southern end of the island in Had Rin at Had Rin Nok and Had Rin Nai, but there are many other places to stay around the island as well.
Because there are few paved roads on Pha-Ngan, transportation be a bit of a problem, though the situation is constantly improving as enterprising Thais set up taxi and boat services between beaches.
Many of the huts on Pha-Ngan have been established by entrepreneurs from Samui with several years experience of in the bungalow business. Huts with shared bathing facilities go for 60 baht to 100 baht a night on average and as low as 40 baht between May and October; many of these do not have electricity or running water. Some have generators which are only on for limited hours in the evening and the lights dim when they make a fruit shake... for many people of course, this adds to Pha-Ngan's appeal.
Other places are moving into the 200 baht to 300 baht a night which almost always includes a private bath, and there are a few scattered spots on the west and south-east coasts with resort-like amenities for 500 baht and up. Panviman Resort in Thong Nai Pan Noi sits on a cliff between two beaches, and is probably the most exclusive operation on the island and rooms there go from 1000 baht to 1800 baht.
